When you start with a name like SK1000U, there a sense that you are like the odd man out. It's hard to remember. You could miss (or add) a zero. Are they zeroes or letter O's? Are you sure it isn't SKU1000 - which rolls off the tongue better? And just what does that number really mean, anyway?
For all of those, and other reasons, we began to look at ways to brand our world-class bariatric toilet support to be even more memorable - with a world-class name. After a few rounds, the genius name The Buttress rose to the top. It signifies a huge step forward in brand development not just from a memorability standpoint. but reflects our sense of humor as well. And we like that.

Branding was developed for the Buttress by our in-house marketing department. The new logo and tagline demonstrate the playful attitude of the company and reveal the support structure that a Buttress offers. The blues refer to the use of our product in medical establishments by using "Scrubs Blue". The mark has an overall clean look to it and is coupled with the tag line "When Certainty Matters". This messaging reinforces the brand promise of being the best-in-class product available for bariatric support of wall-hung toilets. Click here to see how we stack up against our competitors. Today the management of Bar Industries announced the new name for the bariatric support they have been making for 14 years. Formerly known as the SK1000U, the new branded name is The Buttress(TM). "This just fits well with what it is and does" says Bar Industries CEO and inventor of The Buttress, Glenn Wright. A buttress is a time-tested architectural term for a significant support system. The play on words for what we manufacture is unmistakeable, bringing smiles to many faces as they recognize what we are doing. |
